No hard evidence for social distancing or masking children, Fauci says

Dr. Anthony Fauci has admitted there was no hard evidence to support some of the most controversial pandemic policies.

On Friday, the House COVID-19 subcommittee released a transcript from closed-door testimony Fauci offered in January. Republicans pressed him on the origins of the six-foot social distancing guidelines, which Fauci admitted was essentially arbitrary.

He said “It sort of just appeared. I don’t recall… a discussion of whether it should be 5 or 6 or whatever.” He went on to admit there haven’t been any studies to support social distancing, partially because they would be difficult to do. Fauci was asked about these comments in a Congressional hearing earlier today.

Likewise in January, Fauci also couldn’t name a study supporting masking for children, though he said such a study might exist. Meanwhile, he said the psychological impact of masking children is still up in the air.
