The U.S. has now detected and tracked Russian military aircraft near Alaska’s airspace four separate times in seven days.
NORAD says the aircraft remained in international airspace while describing the activity as “regular.” The alerts add that the planes were not seen as a threat. But the apparent uptick comes after this summer when Chinese and Russian warplanes were spotted together near Alaska airspace.
Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan (R) believes the U.S. is being tested and should respond appropriately.
