NYC sues social media platforms for ‘youth mental health crisis’

New York City is taking aim at Big Tech. Mayor Eric Adams yesterday announced a lawsuit against five social media platforms, accusing them of willfully “fueling” the “youth mental health crisis.”

The lawsuit targets TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. It says they, quote, “designed, developed, produced, operated, promoted, distributed, and marketed” their products to “attract, capture, and addict youth, with minimal parental oversight.” The platforms deny the accusation.
