Oklahoma school defends decision to hire drag queen principal

An Oklahoma school district is defending its decision to hire a drag queen as a school principal.

Dr. Shane Brent Murnan, who was previously arrested on child pornography charges, is now the principal at John Glenn Elementary. The school defended its decision saying that it followed “usual hiring practices.”

Despite Murnan’s now expunged criminal record, the school touted the principal’s “outstanding reputation” as an educator.

Murnan admitted to his bad choices on his drag page on Facebook, but he added that teaching kids has been a rewarding experience.

On Sundays, Murnan performs at a gay bar featuring “farcical church services” and “drag queen magic.”
