The Texas National Guard has turned back 30,000 illegal U.S. entries since Operation Lone Star first began two years ago.
Governor Greg Abbott announced the milestone, also saying that Texas is doing Biden’s job to secure the border.
There have also been 359,000 apprehensions and 26,000 criminal arrests over the past two years. Authorities seized over 373 million lethal doses of fentanyl in that time. But the risk to human life includes more than U.S. citizens.
Just this morning, Texas Department of Safety responded to a call after an abandoned child was found near the Rio Grande river.
And yesterday, authorities rescued migrants on a train after an anonymous 911 call said they were suffocating. Uvalde officials found 15 people in need of immediate medical care. Tragically, two others died before authorities reached the scene.
