According to a new report from the Department of Defense, the Pentagon has lost track of $62 million in weapons sent to Ukraine.

The report says the Pentagon doesn’t know if the weapons were lost or destroyed. Both the US and Ukrainian forces left an information gap as to which weapons were lost, destroyed or redirected. According to the Daily Caller, the Pentagon has had issues tracking US aid to Ukraine since the beginning of its conflict with Russia.

The new report says that between March 2022 and November 2023, Ukraine failed to provide sufficient and timely reporting on lost weapons, despite the DOD’s clear rules and regulations.

The report added that “This increases the risk that the DoD could lose accountability” over weapons provided to Ukraine. The DOD recommended improvements in areas of timeliness and organization to avoid future pitfalls.
