Yesterday, President Biden met with family members of American hostages held by Hamas. He was joined by Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a meeting with 13 family members.

One of those families later said about President Biden, “We could have no better friend in Washington or the White House.” There are still eight Americans taken on October 7 who are still held by the terrorist group. The White House says they are committed to freeing the rest.

One hostage family member said she’s hoping for a Christmas miracle. But the meeting came amid reports that Hamas has been unresponsive to efforts to resume negotiations.

Meanwhile, Israeli officials canceled a trip to Qatar that was meant to restart talks on a possible second hostage release deal.
