President Joe Biden is ramping up the pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in light of recent hostage deaths.
Returning from a two-week-long vacation yesterday, the president said Netanyahu isn’t doing enough to secure a hostage deal with Hamas. Netanyahu quickly responded to Biden’s comments, saying Israel has repeatedly shown its willingness to make a deal.
Netanyahu expressed frustration that Israel is now expected to make concessions to Hamas after murdering six hostages. He said,
I don’t believe that either President Biden or anyone serious about achieving peace and achieving the release would seriously ask Israel, Israel to make these concessions. We’ve already made them.
