Putin offers end to war if Ukraine pulls out of Russian-controlled areas

Russian President Vladimir Putin said his nation would be willing to end the war in Ukraine, at a steep price.

Putin’s offer would require Kyiv to relinquish control of four Ukrainian provinces claimed by Moscow and abandon their NATO ambition.

But Ukraine isn’t on board with the demands. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said the conditions weren’t agreeable and vowed to continue fighting to defend his homeland. U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin told reporters at NATO headquarters that Putin had no standing to negotiate peace.
