Congressman Chip Roy (R-Texas) sent a letter to House Republicans asking his colleagues to join him in calling for the impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

“Following the orders of President Biden or acting on his own – [Mayorkas] has embarked on the purposeful abandonment of the laws of the United States and the successful policies of the previous administration to secure our borders and protect our people,” Roy wrote in a letter that was shared by Washington Examiner reporter Anna Giaritelli.

“His actions have resulted in the death and endangerment of Americans, damage to property and communities across the border, loss of operational control of our border to dangerous cartels imprisoning thousands of migrants sold into human trafficking, and the fueling of deadly drug poisonings of thousands of Americans.”

FISM News previously reported that border patrol intercepted a record number of smuggled fentanyl in 2021, marking the first time in American history that the opioid out-trafficked heroin.

“It is most certainly a ‘high crime or misdemeanor’ for a public officer to purposefully endanger Americans while willfully ignoring one’s oath to enforce our laws. Impeaching Mayorkas is our duty.”

Roy’s letter also references updated CBP data that showed the southern border experienced a 63% surge in migrants in February 2022 compared to the year before.

Congressman Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), while speaking to FISM News at CPAC, said that Mayorkas should be impeached for “willfully violating federal law.”
