Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) has now been officially expelled from the House of Representatives following a third expulsion vote on Friday.
The vote was 311 for expulsion and 114 against. Among other things, the Republican newcomer was said to have used campaign funds for personal purposes.
Santo became a historic first in the United States. While he is the sixth representative to be expelled, he is the only person to have been expelled before being convicted of any crime or treasonous act.
Before he was ousted, Santo blasted the ethics report as a smear campaign and called those going after him “bullies.”
He also introduced an expulsion resolution against fellow New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D), who made headlines earlier this fall with a fire alarm stunt.
