Republicans slam 9/11 plea deal as ‘national disgrace’

Republicans are up in arms with the Pentagon’s plea deal allowing the terrorist mastermind behind 9/11 to escape the death penalty.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel (R-Ky.) is calling it a “national disgrace” and a “revolting” abdication of justice. At the same time, Trump VP pick JD Vance and Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley slammed the deal, alleging a double standard of justice from the Biden administration.

The White House denies President Biden was involved in the process in any way, saying he only learned of the deal on Wednesday.

And it’s not the only deal that’s receiving some pushback. Former President Donald Trump is speaking out against yesterday’s prisoner swap with Russia, an agreement that freed Wall Street Journal Reporter Evan Gerskovich and former Marine Paul Whelan among others.

In all, 24 prisoners were freed with Russia receiving eight prisoners from multiple countries.
