RFK Jr. breaks from Democrats, runs as Independent

Robert F. Kennedy Jr announced Monday in Philadelphia that he is dropping his Democratic Party bid for president and will run instead as an independent.

Kennedy is looking to cast himself as a unifier and voice for voters who are fed up with the partisan divide.

Political strategists think he could draw the support of about one in seven U.S. voters, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released last week. He would be pulling votes from both Biden and Trump.
