Russia’s Dagestan region mourns weekend terror attacks

Islamic terrorism continues to rear its ugly head in Russia. At least 21 people are dead, most of them police, and nearly 50 more have been injured following a series of weekend attacks on churches and synagogues in Russia’s mainly Muslim region of Dagestan. The region’s governor has since declared three days of mourning.

Sunday’s attack was the deadliest in Russia since a concert hall shooting in March that left 145 dead. ISIS, which claimed responsibility for March’s attack, also praised the attack in Dagestan, saying it was carried out by ” “brothers in the Caucasus who showed that they are still strong.”
