Russia’s Supreme Court declares LGBTQ movement extremist

Russia’s supreme court declared the LGBTQ movement “extremist” in a ruling yesterday.

According to Reuters, the court said that “the international LGBT social movement” is extreme and should be banned from the country.

This comes as Russia has been increasingly pushing back against progressive, and at times, far-left ideals. The country has already outlawed the promotion of same-sex relations and banned gender transitions in the medical field.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson said the Kremlin isn’t following the LGBT case and did not comment on the issue. However, Putin said in a speech last year that the West has no right to impose its progressive social values on other countries.
