In the growing tension concerning religious conflict in America, a Satanic temple in Illinois is enraging Christians after promoting a Satanic after-school club at an elementary school.
The Satanic Temple chapter in Moline, Illinois, reportedly succeeded in starting a club for students at Jane Addams Elementary School in Illinois. Fox News reported that this was an intentional retaliation against a particular Christian school group, which Fox described as the Temple’s “arch nemesis.”
Predictably, this development came as a shock to many families, and a large protest was held last week against the Satanic influence.
Lucien Greaves, a member of the local Satanist chapter, attempted to justify the organization’s actions, saying,
I’m hoping that with our presence, people can see that good people can have different perspectives, sometimes on the same mythology, but not mean any harm. We’re not including items of religious opinion … We’re not teaching children about Satanism. They’re just going to know that this is taught by Satanists.
Contrary to those who worship Satan, one of the executives of a local Christian club summarized the intentions of the Temple, saying,
I cannot tell you what’s in their hearts, but they certainly are doing work that would be contrary to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
This news should make Christians take a second look. This is a clear and obvious warning to Christian parents to be on guard in protecting our children and teaching them the truth, knowing that they will face all kinds of falsehood even in school.
The Word of God reminds us, both in the example of Jesus in the gospels and in the words of the Apostles, that we must be on guard and alert against the schemes of the devil, the same devil that is now being celebrated in a social club at an elementary school. 1 Peter 5:8 says,
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
