Sec. State Blinken: Israel accepts Gaza ceasefire proposal

by ian

Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced yesterday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted a Gaza ceasefire proposal.

The U.S. secretary adds that it’s now up to Hamas to accept the updated proposal. A senior Hamas official rejected the statement, saying the proposal “raises many ambiguities.” The day before, the terrorist organization said the deal was biased toward Israel and didn’t reflect an earlier agreement.

It’s unknown if the newest negotiation includes an Israeli proposal to control some strategic corridors inside Gaza. Hamas has said that’s a non-starter for them.

However, Netanyahu’s office said last week that it was a lie that Israel made new demands during the July negotiations.
