Organization predicts second most expensive July 4th on record

According to a new report from the American Farm Bureau Federation, Fourth of July celebrations this year will be the second most expensive on record.

The report found that cookout costs are 14% higher than they were two years ago. The cost of feeding 10 people this year will be at an all-time high as well. Items such as hamburger buns, ground beef, ice cream, and potato salad have all gotten more expensive, some by as much as 17%.

Officials at the Farm Bureau say the cost comes from both inflation and the recent drought in the Midwest. Weather conditions have both increased the cost of cattle feed as well as reduced the amount of available livestock.

Despite record high costs, the Bureau noted that prices for some items have come down slightly from last year.
