Secret Service asks Congress for budget increase

The Secret Service is asking Congress for more funding in light of the latest assassination attempt against Donald Trump.

This week, President Joe Biden told reporters the Secret Service might need more help from Congress and it looks like the agency agrees. Punchbowl News reports the Secret Service has been making the case that it desperately needs more than the $3 billion Congress gave it this fiscal year.

The report comes as Secret Service Acting Director Ronald Rowe said he’s prepared to have “some hard conversations with Congress.”

Punchbowl reports there’s currently a disagreement among lawmakers as to whether the Secret Service needs more money or simply new leadership.
