Secretary Blinken in China amid tensions over Taiwan aid bill

Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Beijing this week for talks with Chinese leaders amid simmering tensions over America’s latest foreign aid package, which includes funding for Taiwan.

As we’ve mentioned several times before, China considers Taiwan as part of its territory and has threatened to take it by force.

According to the AP, the US aid package, signed earlier this week,  “covers a wide range of parts and services aimed at maintaining and upgrading Taiwan’s military hardware.”

Chinese officials warn the US has put Taiwan in a “dangerous situation.”
