Senators announce bipartisan AI policy roadmap

A bipartisan group of senators is addressing artificial intelligence for the first time. The committee released its AI policy proposal yesterday to tackle the technology’s benefits and pitfalls.

The committee is asking for $32 billion in annual funding for the project and to compete with China. But the roadmap falls short on guardrails in most areas. Instead, the focus is on how the technology can be used in healthcare, government agencies and national defense.

But it does mention AI technology’s need to be transparent with the public.
