Southern California becomes new hotbed for illegal immigration

Officials say Southern California has become “the new epicenter” of illegal immigration.

San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond said San Diego led all nine southern border sectors in illegal crossings last month. Last week, border enforcement officials made 2,000 apprehensions in just one day, including more than 200 Chinese nationals.

The shift comes as Texas has been going to great lengths to stop illegal immigration through its security mission known as Operation Lone Star. But Desmond says California’s policies are also to blame.
