Super Bowl 2024 becomes most-watched television broadcast

The Super Bowl wasn’t just a big night for the Kansas City Chiefs, but for television in general as well. According to figures from Nielsen and Adobe Analytics, this year’s Super Bowl was the most-watched broadcast in the history of television.

Figures showed that an average of 123.4 million viewers tuned in to watch the big game. About 112 million were tuned into the CBS broadcast specifically, and the remaining 10-plus million were spread across other options. This included Paramount+, which reportedly broke another record by making this year’s game the most-streamed Super Bowl in the still-young history of that delivery method.

Speculation on what drew in the record-breaking viewership varies, but some believe it is mostly due to the media frenzy surrounding pop star Taylor Swift and Chiefs player Travis Kelce.
