Billionaire Palantir CEO Alexander Karp has made a personal donation to a hermit who recently lost his cabin home in a fire. Hermit David Lidstone, also known as River Dave, has lived in a cabin out in the woods in New Hampshire for the past 30 years. Lidstone was recently in the headlines when he was jailed for refusing to leave his cabin after the new owners of the land it was on asked him to leave. River Dave told the new owners and the press that he had a private verbal agreement with the land’s previous owner.

One day before Lidstone was released from prison, his cabin in the woods burned down in an event that was deemed an accident. Following this somewhat suspicious tragedy, a number of residents of the area who have known River Dave for years, started a fundraising campaign in order to assist the 81 year old man with finding a new home. His plight came to the attention of Karp who decided to gift the hermit $180,000.00. River Dave was deeply thankful and expressed his gratitude by way of a friend who filmed his thank you reply.
