Texas AG investigates Media Matters amid Musk lawsuit

It looks like Media Matters’ legal problems aren’t going away. The state of Texas is now investigating the leftwing nonprofit over an allegedly fraudulent report that incited companies to pull ads from X last week.

Media Matters accuses X of placing ads from major brands next to antisemitic content. Disney, IBM, and Apple are just a few of the brands that have since paused spending on the media platform. But X claims Media Matters used false accounts to game the algorithm for their report, calling it a “malicious” hit piece meant to scare off advertisers.

Elon Musk sued the nonprofit yesterday and Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey hints that he might launch a formal probe into Media Matters as well.
