Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is throwing his support behind Donald Trump, saying the former president is the best man for the job when it comes to securing the southern border.
Since Biden took office, the U.S. has seen record levels of illegal immigration with Customs and Border Protection reporting nearly 2.5 million encounters in fiscal year 2023 alone. Trump plans to crack down on those numbers by reinstating his Remain in Mexico policy along with policies from his previous administration.
Abbott is the latest high-profile Republican to endorse Trump following House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana and Arkansas Gov. Sara Huckabee Sanders last week.
