TikTok CEO lashes out against US government for app ban in aid bill

TikTok CEO Shou Chew has vowed to fight America on the new law requiring the social media app to come under new ownership or be banned from the country.

Chew added that he is ready to go to court to challenge this outcome.

The law, which is part of the newly passed foreign aid package, gives TikTok nine months to remove itself from its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, or face a ban from the US market due to national security concerns.

FBI Director Christopher Wray said that TikTok’s parent company is “beholden to the Chinese government” and is “attempting to steal our AI and hack American technology every day.”

According to one analyst, likely US contenders for TikTok would either be Microsoft or Oracle.
