Treasury Secretary Jennet Yellen is being pressed on the lackluster state of the economy.

On Sunday, ABC’s Jonathan Karl asked her why voters still complain about the economy if the macroeconomy is doing well. Yellen mostly blamed the pandemic for the public’s dissatisfaction and argued that wages have increased.

According to, wages have not gone up when adjusted for inflation. “Real” weekly earnings decreased by 3.4%. At the same time, inflation soared to a 40-year high under President Joe Biden. Consumer prices went up about 18-19%, while gas prices went up 29%.
