Both presidential campaigns are pushing hard in Pennsylvania. It’s shaping up to be one of the most important, if not most important, swing states of the year.
Donald Trump stopped in Western Pennsylvania yesterday for a roundtable discussion with local farmers, many of whom share their struggles in the current economy.
In turn, Trump suggested several solutions, including tax breaks for Americans trying to buy farmland and renewed efforts to lower energy costs.
Trump also suggested placing tariffs on foreign products to protect American businesses. He made a point to highlight the steel industry specifically, which remains a major source of jobs in Pennsylvania.
More controversially, Trump also suggested tariffs on John Deere for making its products in Mexico. Those tariffs could potentially drive up costs for farmers who rely on those products.
