Trump campaign faces blowback for political content creation at Arlington Cemetery

Former President Donald Trump can’t catch a break from controversial incidents. This time, his campaign team’s presence at Arlington Cemetery ruffled some feathers.

On Monday, Trump visited Arlington Cemetery to honor the 13 fallen soldiers who were killed during the Kabul airport bombing in 2021. However, when Trump’s team took photos and videos of the event, they were confronted by a cemetery official.

NPR and the Trump campaign shared similar accounts of a mild physical altercation between the Republican team and the official.

Following the incident, Arlington Cemetery said in a statement that any creation of political campaign-related content at Army National Military Cemeteries was prohibited by federal law.

In response, Trump shared a statement from the victims’ families who said he and his team conducted themselves with “the utmost respect and dignity.”

Trump campaign manager Chris Lacivita called the cemetery official’s physical blocking of their team a “disgrace” when the former president was specifically invited to the event.
