Trump completes pre-sentencing interview with probation officers

Donald Trump completed his pre-sentencing interview for his New York hush money conviction yesterday.

The New York Times reports that probation officers virtually interviewed the former president at his Mar-a-Lago estate. He was joined by his lawyer, Todd Blanche.

Criminal defense lawyer Robert Gouveia said Trump’s legal team would, of course, not recommend any jail time for the former president, and they would likely only recommend a very light probation. According to CNN, Trump was described as polite, respectful, and accommodating to the probation officers.

Judge Juan Merchan scheduled the sentencing on July 11, just days before the Republican National Convention. That is where Trump is expected to be nominated as the party’s official presidential candidate for the upcoming elections.
