Trump faces blowback from pro-life Republicans over abortion policy

Some pro-life Republicans are not happy with Donald Trump’s abortion policy. The former president released a statement yesterday saying he plans to leave the issue up to the states should he be reelected, rejecting calls for a 15-week federal ban.

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham was one of the first Republicans to recommend a 15-week ban. He released a statement saying he “respectfully” disagrees with Trump’s view that abortion should be left up to the states.

He said, “The pro-life movement has always been about the wellbeing of the unborn child – not geography.” Trump fired back saying a federal ban would cause Republicans to lose the election.

Former Vice President Mike Pence also released a statement, calling Trump’s policy a “slap in the face” to pro-life voters.
