Trump fined $354 million in NY civil case, vows appeal

Former President Donald Trump received a major blow on Friday.

New York Judge Arthur Engoron ordered Trump to pay over $354 million in damages for overvaluing assets. He also fined Trump’s two sons – Don Jr. and Eric – over $4 million each and barred Trump from doing business in the state for a minimum of three years.

It’s all part of the civil fraud case brought by New York AG Letitia James in September 2022. James celebrated the ruling. Trump says he plans to appeal – calling the case election interference, while also pointing out that no banks have accused him of fraud.

Those words were later echoed by Trump lawyer Alina Habba, who feels confident she will win on appeal.
