Tuberville won’t budge on stalling Biden nominees over tax-funded abortions

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) said recently that he won’t stop blocking Biden Defense Department nominees until the military stops taxpayer-funded abortion tourism.

The staunchly pro-life Republican senator vowed to continue holding up military promotions over the DOD’s new “reproductive healthcare” policy, one that requires American taxpayers to pay for abortions in the military.

But Democrats are calling his actions a “blanket and unprecedented ‘hold’ on DOD policies that, in their view, ensure service members have access to reproductive health.”

Tuberville’s tactics also drew criticism from some of his fellow Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), though none have exerted pressure on Tuberville to change his approach.
