As tension ratchets up between Hezbollah and Israel, foreign governments are urging their citizens to leave Lebanon as soon as possible.
The US embassy is telling Americans to use “any ticket available” to get out of the country, warning that those who don’t leave should prepare to “shelter in place for an extended period of time.” This comes after the State Department raised the threat level in Lebanon to “do not travel” last week, resulting in mass flight cancellations, according to the Hill.
The US embassy said, “We encourage those who wish to depart Lebanon to book any ticket available to them, even if that flight does not depart immediately or does not follow their first-choice route.”
Likewise, the British government is also telling UK nationals to get out of the country ASAP, while Sweden shut down its embassy over the weekend.
