U.S. military dismantles temporary Gaza pier for third time

President Joe Biden’s temporary pier in Gaza is going away again and it’s not clear when it will be rebuilt.

U.S. forces towed pieces of the $230 million pier to Ashdod in Israel last week, ahead of high seas that could damage it. This now makes the third time the pier has been disconnected since it was built in mid-May. But the Pentagon tried to circumvent rumors that the pier will remain permanently dismantled.

During the past seven days that the dock was operational, ships unloaded about 10 million pounds of aid from Cyprus. However, delivery trucks are not picking up those shipments. The Pentagon admitted that the marshaling yard is nearing capacity.
