U.S. pushes Israel for ‘more precise’ strikes on Hamas

A top U.S. official is in Israel to push for “more precise” attacks on Hamas. Beginning today, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is meeting with top Israeli officials.

The White House says he’ll be engaged in “extremely serious conversations” about humanitarian aid and the ongoing military campaign. The meeting follows President  Joe Biden’s Tuesday comments about Israel’s “indiscriminate bombing” in Gaza.

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby stepped in yesterday to do damage control. He says Israel and the U.S. have a shared desire to see fewer civilian deaths in Gaza.
