UK cities can now criminalize prayer outside of abortion centers, following a high court decision.
Last year, Bournemouth, England, passed a Public Spaces Protection Order that outlawed protests and prayer within 500 feet of an abortion clinic. A video from the Alliance Defending Freedom shows officers questioning a woman praying silently near a Birmingham abortion facility in October.
Two Christian groups challenged this order, but the court ruled that English law protects the right to abortion. Bournemouth can punish those praying or reading scripture in the buffer zone with a fine and six months in prison.
Officers, like the one questioning the woman in the ADF UK video, have even accused those praying of intimidating and harassing passers-by.
