UN suspends food distribution in Rafah amid aid interceptions

The UN stopped aid shipments to Rafah yesterday.

The organization said that due to IDF advances in the region and a lack of supplies, it no longer distributes food in that area. The UN added that aid trucks from the US-built floating pier have also not entered Rafah since the beginning of the IDF maneuver.

This has raised concerns in the US and among Western nations. But according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Hamas is to blame for the pause in aid shipments.

Reuters reports that out of 11 aid trucks going to Gaza, only five made it on Saturday. A UN spokesperson referred to the looters as “desperate” Palestinians who wanted to distribute the resources themselves. The agency is now reportedly planning new routes for future aid shipments.
