The US Army issued a statement criticizing former President Donald Trump for his political content creation at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday.
While the 2021 Kabul airport victims’ families supported the president and wanted him there for a memorial service, critics saw the situation as disrespectful.
The US Army commented in a statement that,
Participants in the August 26th ceremony and the subsequent Section 60 visit were made aware of federal laws, Army regulations and DoD policies, which clearly prohibit political activities on cemetery grounds. An ANC employee who attempted to ensure adherence to these rules was abruptly pushed aside.
Section 60 is a highly restricted zone where largely soldiers who served in Iraq and Afghanistan are buried.
However, since the Arlington National Cemetery employee did not press charges against Trump’s campaign team, the matter is considered closed by the Army.
