US marks 2-year anniversary of Ukraine war by vowing continued support

Tomorrow marks the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The State Department held a press briefing yesterday with guest speaker European and Eurasian Affairs ambassador Yuri Kim. She recounted the events leading up to the invasion, emphasizing the fact that Russia’s actions were “unprovoked, unjustifiable, and brutal.” She signaled confidence in continued U.S. support for Ukraine.

This comes as Congress has been on the fence about passing another $60 billion aid package to help the war-torn country. But despite political tension, several U.S. officials from both parties made trips to Ukraine this past week, reassuring President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of continued financial support.
