US Middle East bases attacked again by Iranian-backed proxies

US military bases in the Middle East have again been attacked by Iranian-based proxies.

Four attacks took place in the 24 hours after US forces conducted airstrikes in Syria on Wednesday. Three US troops were injured, with two of them suffering traumatic brain injuries.

The Pentagon reports 46 attacks by Iranian-backed proxies against US military bases since mid-October. Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told reporters that these attacks aren’t uncommon but have ramped up since the Hamas attack on Oct. 7.

Still, Singh says it hasn’t distracted the US from its main goal in the region. But she added that “if these attacks continue, we won’t hesitate to take further necessary measures to protect our people.”
