Last week, a teacher in Virginia took a bold and courageous stand for the truth during a school board meeting debate.
Laura Leanne, a 5th grade teacher in Virginia’s Loudon County, found herself standing up in defiance to the school district’s new transgender pronoun rules. The rules force teachers to refer to elementary students by the pronoun of their choice instead of their biological gender, even students as young as kindergarten. Leanne immediately resigned from her position, calling on her faith in Christ as the reason she could not support the school board’s policies.

Through tears, Leanne said,
School board, I quit. I quit your policies, I quit your training, I quit being a cog in a machine that tells me to push highly politicized agendas on our most vulnerable constituents: the children. I will find employment elsewhere. I encourage all parents and staff in this county to flood the private schools…
Immediately after she said this, Leanne’s mic was cut in mid-sentence. This courageous woman should be praised by believers and patriots everywhere for her bold stand against a public school system that has proven time and again to suppress free speech and freedom of religion.
This development is both encouraging and disturbing. On one hand, we see that there are some teachers left in the public school system, those like Laura Leanne, who will not give up their faith or their freedom to fall in line with a party-run educational system. On the other hand, the trajectory of the moral crumbling of public education in America is shocking. Worst of all, as Leanne said, those who will be hurt the most are those most vulnerable – children.
