Voters brave arctic temps for Iowa caucus

Iowa voters are braving bone-chilling weather tonight to take part in the nation’s first Republican primary caucus. Candidates spent the weekend making their final pitches to the voters.

With wind chills potentially reaching negative-45 degrees, tonight’s caucus is not only a question of support but also dedication. Tonight is make or break for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who over the last several months has dedicated his campaign to winning Iowa.

DeSantis spent time visiting all 99 counties and racking up 60,000 commitment cards. The question is whether that discipline will be enough to overtake former President Donald Trump.

Two weekend polls show Trump still holds a commanding lead over his rivals. Both polls show former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and DeSantis in distant second and third places, respectively.
