A brand new poll should have the Trump campaign sounding the alarm bells.
New data from the Financial Times and the University of Michigan shows – for the first time – Kamala Harris is leading Donald Trump on the economy. According to the poll, 42% of voters say they trust Harris more with the economy, compared to 41% who said the same about Trump.
It’s a major boost for the Democrats, as just 35% of voters trusted Biden with the economy just before he dropped out of the race. Harris has been making the economy a central part of her campaign, largely pushing many of Biden’s policies targeting price gouging and other cost increases.
But there’s still some hope for the Trump campaign. Twenty-two percent of voters still believe Trump’s policies will leave them “much better off” financially compared to just 12% who said the same for Harris. Voters also believe Trump will do a better job handling trade issues with China.
