Vice President Kamala Harris laid out a post-war vision for Gaza over the weekend.

The VP used stronger words during a slate of sidebar meetings with Arab leaders during the COP28 climate summit. According to the White House readout, she promised the Egyptian president that the U.S. would not permit the forced relocation of any Palestinians.

She also added that rebuilding efforts should include a revitalized Palestinian Authority to create a “state of their own.”

Israel began demands this weekend for a post-war buffer zone between itself and Gaza. Reuters reported they notified Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia of their plan.

Meanwhile, an Israeli foreign policy advisor hinted that their current demands constitute just one step in a “three-tier process for the day after Hamas.”
