The US House Intelligence Committee says Iran could become a nation with nuclear weapons by the end of the year.
Republican House Intel Chair Mike Turner (Ohio) told CBS yesterday, “There is a possibility…that Iran could declare itself a nuclear weapon state by the end of the year.” Iran has so far denied having a nuclear program; however, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said that no one would be able to stop the country if they wanted to have one.
Likewise, an earlier report from a U.N. watchdog revealed that Iran had grown its enriched uranium stock to 5 tons in February. The country is now closer than ever to reaching enrichment levels enough for two nuclear weapons.
Former President Donald Trump promised at a rally recently that he would curtail Iran’s ability to possess nuclear weapons if he is re-elected.
