Earlier today, smoke was seen rising near the White House and reports were circulating that the building was evacuated during an inauguration rehearsal. With Biden taking office Wednesday and the current state of political tension, security concerns are high at the White House.

Thankfully, the Capitol Police is reporting the evacuation was performed out of “an abundance of caution” due to a nearby fire. “There are currently no fires on or within the Capitol campus,” the police said. “Members and staff were advised to shelter in place while the incident is being investigated.”

According to the Secrete Service the fire has been put out and is of “no threat to the public.”
