WV attorney general calls out FBI discriminatory hiring

West Virginia’s attorney general is calling out the FBI for alleged discriminatory hiring practices.

AG Patrick Morrisey seeks to challenge the federal agency’s diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. He sent a letter to the associate deputy director of the agency yesterday, writing that “race-conscious recruitment, hiring and promotion practices in the FBI only foster division and stereotypes.”

Morrisey cited a report detailing these “alarming trends,” which includes whistleblowers’ testimonies. He alleges “the organization is abandoning its core principle of attracting the most-qualified candidates” to hire and advance employees based on gender, sexual orientation, and race.

The AG is now calling for more transparency, saying the American people “deserve to know whether their government is following the laws it purports to enforce.”
