Wyoming becomes 24th state to ban gender surgeries for minors

Wyoming is now the 24th state to ban gender surgeries for minors.

The bill overwhelmingly passed the state’s house and senate and was signed by Republican Gov. Mark Gordon on Friday. The bill specifically stops doctors from “performing procedures for children related to gender transitioning and gender reassignment.”

Gordon clarified that he supports “the protections this bill includes for children,” but also voiced concerns about the government “straying into the personal affairs of families.”

At the same time, the governor vetoed a bill regulating abortion clinics, saying the law would likely be challenged in court. Gordon said the bill as it currently stands would set back pro-life efforts in the state.
